Overview

Eindrcke Palma de MallorcaPlaya de Palma is located in Mallorca (Spain). Mallorca is the largest island in the Balearic Islands archipelago located in the Mediterranean Sea. The capital of the island is Palma. Like the other Balearic Islands of Menorca, Ibiza and Formentera, the island is an extremely popular holiday destination.

The international airport, Palma de Mallorca Airport, is one of the busiest in Spain with many flight frequencies and competitive prices.

Although Palma and Mallorca have good connections by train or bus; the best way to discover the beauty of the island would be to rent a car. Talking about weather conditions, Mallorca is a Mediterranean climate with mild winters and warm bright summers.

History & Culture

The Phoenicians colonized the island around the 8th century BC and established numerous colonies. The capital of Mallorca, Palma, was founded as a Roman camp called Palmaria. It was later reconquered by the Byzantines, colonised by the Moors and finally established by James I of Aragon.

Today, there are multiple museums that you can visit and learn more about the island history.

Cuisine


Olives and almonds are typical of the Mallorcan diet. Among the food items that are Mallorcan are sobrassadaarròs brut (saffron rice cooked with chicken, pork and vegetables), and the sweet pastry ensaïmada.

Mallorca produces great wines, these wineries offer the possibility to visit their facilities, do wine tasting and buy the best exclusive wines.
